Terms of use — Balansert / Balanced

1. About the service
These terms of use apply to Balansert / Balanced, which consists of the mobile application "Balanced" (the "app") and the web services at balansert.app and balancedmind.app (the "website"), collectively referred to as the "service". The service is provided by Balansert Mestring AS (org. no. 933 854 760). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the website, you accept these terms. If you do not accept the terms, you must stop using the service.
2. Nature of the service – not medical advice
Balanced is a wellness app designed for relaxation, stress management, and personal development. The app is NOT a medical device and does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Although the content is developed by doctors and psychologists, it does not replace individual medical evaluation. You should always contact a healthcare professional for questions about your health. If you are experiencing an acute mental health crisis, contact your local emergency services.
3. User registration
To use the app, you must create an account via Google sign-in or email/password. You are responsible for:
- Ensuring the information you provide is correct
- Keeping your login information confidential
- All activity that occurs through your account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
4. Subscription and payment
The app offers both free and premium content.
Free content:
- Guided breathing exercises
- Selected meditations and course previews
- Daily wisdom and exercises
- Streak tracking
Premium content (requires subscription):
- Full meditation library (60+ sessions)
- All courses with progress tracking
- Offline downloads
- Podcast access
Prices (as of April 21, 2026):
- Monthly subscription: 129 NOK per month (incl. 25% Norwegian VAT)
- Yearly subscription: 699 NOK per year (incl. 25% Norwegian VAT). New customers receive a 14-day free trial before the first charge. Cancel from “My subscription” in settings before day 15 to avoid being charged.
- All prices on the website are displayed including 25% Norwegian VAT (MVA) and are charged in Norwegian kroner. In the mobile app, prices may vary by country, local currency, and exchange rate.
Subscription terms for the website (balansert.app / balancedmind.app):
- Balansert Mestring AS is the merchant of record and invoices directly for purchases made on the website.
- Payment is processed by Stripe (card) or Vipps MobilePay (recurring agreements). We do not store card details.
- The subscription automatically renews until cancelled. Monthly subscriptions renew every 30 days; yearly subscriptions renew every 12 months.
- Cancellation is done via "Profile → Subscription" on the website, or by contacting us at balansert@doktorfive.no. Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled by Balansert Mestring AS in accordance with the Norwegian Act on digital services to consumers and the Right of Withdrawal Act (see §5). Refund requests are sent to balansert@doktorfive.no.
Subscription terms for the mobile app (App Store / Google Play):
- Payment and renewal are handled by the app store. We do not have access to your payment card details.
- The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period expires.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription in your app store's subscription settings. Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled by the app store in accordance with their refund policy.
5. Right of withdrawal
As a consumer in Norway, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the time of purchase for digital services, unless you have consented to delivery starting before the withdrawal period expires. By starting a subscription and using premium content, you consent to delivery starting immediately and that the right of withdrawal lapses when the content is made available to you. Free content and trial periods can be cancelled at any time at no cost.
6. Norwegian Digital Content Act
In accordance with the Norwegian Act on digital services to consumers:
- Commitment periods exceeding 6 months are not permitted.
- Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time with effect from the next billing period.
- We will actively notify you of your active subscription and your right to cancel at least every 6 months.
- Cancellation must be as easy as registration.
7. Intellectual property rights
All content in the app – including meditations, courses, text, audio, video, illustrations, design, and software – is protected by copyright and owned by Doktor Five AS or our licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license for private, non-commercial use. You may not:
- Copy, redistribute, or share content from the app
- Record, screen-capture, or otherwise reproduce audio files
- Use the content for commercial purposes
- Modify, decompile, or reverse-engineer the app
8. Offline downloads
Premium users can download content for offline use. Downloaded content:
- Is encrypted and linked to your account
- Requires online verification at least every 14 days
- Becomes unavailable 3 days after the subscription expires
- Cannot be transferred to other devices or accounts
9. Availability and changes
We strive to keep the app available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may at any time:
- Update, modify, or remove content
- Perform maintenance that causes temporary unavailability
- Change functionality or design in the app
We will notify you of material changes that affect your subscription.
10. Limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is". We do our best to ensure the content is accurate and up to date, but do not guarantee that:
- The app is error-free or uninterrupted
- The content suits your individual needs
- Using the app will produce specific health outcomes
Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the app in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct on our part, and does not affect your mandatory consumer rights under Norwegian law.
11. Breach of terms
We may suspend or restrict access to your account if you:
- Breach these terms
- Use the app in a manner that is illegal or harmful
- Attempt to circumvent payment systems or security measures
- Share your account or login information with others
12. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. For material changes, we will inform you via email or notification in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after the change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
13. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes shall first be attempted resolved through dialogue. If agreement cannot be reached, the dispute may be brought before the Norwegian Consumer Council (forbrukerradet.no) for mediation, or before Norwegian courts with venue in Oslo.
14. Complaint handling
If you have a complaint about the service, your subscription, or a payment, please follow these steps:
- Send the complaint in writing to balansert@doktorfive.no. Describe what the complaint concerns, when the incident occurred, and what outcome you are seeking. Attach a receipt or order number if relevant.
- We acknowledge receipt within 3 business days and provide a written substantive response within 14 days. For complex cases that require longer processing time, we will notify you of the expected completion date.
- If the complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may bring the case to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (forbrukertilsynet.no) or the Consumer Council (forbrukerradet.no). You may also use the EU complaint portal at ec.europa.eu/odr.
